What should I do??

Hey Fam!

I'm starting work tomorrow for the very first time in about a year!!!  I'm sooooo excited!  I'm also going through a little separation anxiety....see, for 7 months I've been at home with my son.  I'm going to miss him soooo very much while I'm at work.  That's the least of my concerns.  LOL!!! I'm really trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my hair!  Right now, I'm in the process of figuring out a regimen that is going to work for my hair growth.  I plan on trying castor oil to thicken my hair in some thin spots and also use lavender to help treat my skin condition.  I have seborrhea dermatitus of the scalp, so it's like my hair is always being pulled.  Seborrhea is basically over active sebaceous glands (oil glands) in the scalp.  Instead of having dry scalp, I have super oily scalp.  My hair is thinning and growing unevenly in some spots so I plan on going to a naturalist since I'm working now.  I'm also working on putting together some oils and scalp treatments for people with my condition.  I really need your help though.  I really need to ask what is working for you!!  Please don't hesitate to leave your posts...

Where?!?

Hey Fam!
I know I haven't written in a while....just alot has been going on.  I start working Monday and have been trying to get ready for that!  Plus all of the other issues of my life have just been weighing me down.  Keep me and my family in your prayers!  Lord Have Mercy....

I've been wondering where we get our views on what's worldly and what's not. How do you know by what someone is wearing or doing if they're saved? Too often we make mistakes and get tagged as an individual who is a bad person and we couldn't have any Christ in us because if we did, we wouldn't act like fools....well, I beg to differ. See, we're humans. And just because we've proclaimed Jesus as our personal savior, does not make us exempt from being tempted or falling into a trap. When will we Christians realize that the only perfect one among us was Jesus? I've been told that I'm not saved because I wear pants, braids, or even that natural curls make me look worldly....I'm not finding any sense in any of those comments because my Bible reads that as long as I confess with my mouth that Jesus died on the cross and rose on the third day, and that He is Lord, that I shall be saved. I never understood how my material possessions determine my salvation. If anything, I could say that we try to be more like the world when we give in to society's views of what's acceptable and say that we aren't trying to stand apart when we adapt to those views. But that is not my motivation. I just want to make sure I live right and treat people right. And also, if salvation is something that could be lost, there would be no purpose in being a Christian because no one would make it into Heaven. We have something to strive for; we'll never be perfect EVER!! It is impossible to lose your salvation. Just like any relationship, you can bruise a spirit or misuse trust, but my God's love is unconditional. He's the only man that I know that doesn't have any conditions on his love. My spirit should be what you see that makes you say..."She really is a child of God!" For my Bible also says to let my light so shine that men shall see my good works. So yes, I wear my earrings, my pants, my braids, my natural locs, and occasionally a little makeup. Those things don't make me who I am....they are materials. I know that my heart and my mind are focused on Jesus and making it into Heaven when I leave here. Let us readjust our focus Christians! Stop dwelling on the things of the world. Correct when necessary and don't be offensive to your brother and love them in spite of!

Much Love and Peace,

Kisha

My First Experience Using No Shampoo

As stated before, I've been NappynHappy for 3 years now.  I just recently began researching how to begin taking care of my hair.  I've found some valuable tools that I want to share with all my naturally coily sistas!!!

As you can see in my profile pic, my hair is tightly coiled and is very tightly compacted when wet.  I have type 4 hair.  This was a twist out after washing my hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar (...from now on will be abbreviated ACV...)  After I washed my hair, I used Cantu's Rinse Out Conditioner and followed up with Cantu's Leave In Strengthning Repair Cream.  I towel dried and used a mixture of the Leave In Conditioner, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (...from now on will be abbreviated EVOO...LOL!) and water to keep my hair damp.  I took my Denmen knockoff (a Goody version I found at Drug Emporium for $3.42) and brushed my hair through (being careful to detangle my ends first to minimize breakage) and twisted.   I then let my hair dry overnight and took it down the next day.

Now that I am a little more educated on how to take care of my hair, I'm definitely really excited to see where this journey takes me!  You should be too...please do not hesitate to hit me up with any questions and concerns that you may have about your kinky hair...I'd be happy to help you figure out how to take care of your beautiful locs!!!

Peace and Much Love...

Kisha
